Itinerary Brief

A 5-night, self-drive journey through Central Asia's winter wilderness, where the road itself is the destination. Setting off from Bishkek in your own 4x4, wind past the ancient Burana Tower, trace the frozen southern shores of Issyk-Kul, and wander through Skazka Canyon, the "Fairytale Canyon", before meeting a local eagle hunter in Bokonbaev, keeper of one of the Kyrgyz nomads' oldest traditions. Climb through the legendary 33 Parrots Pass to 3,135 metres, spend an evening lost in live Kyrgyz folklore in Kochkor, and watch artisans hand-felt traditional shyrdak carpets, a craft as old as the steppe itself. The final stretch carries you over the Kyzart Pass and through the vast, snow-draped Suusamyr Valley, climbing to 3,500 metres at Too Ashuu Pass before the loop closes back in Bishkek. This is driving in its purest form, with snow-covered peaks, thin mountain air, and roads few travellers ever take on, all from behind your own wheel. This is not just a trip. It's a story of adventure, freedom, and exploration that stays with you long after the journey ends.
